Photographs of siblings often expose family dynamics, or at least suggest some of the interesting tensions and interdependencies that make families such fascinating arenas. The composition of sets matters (three girls makes for very different dynamics than two girls and one boy, etc.), and so does the spacing, and so does birth order. We know this from our own family experience, but we're inclined to think of it anecdotally, rather than analytically. More to say about this...
